Volunteer with UnChained
Welcome to the UnChained family! Your unique contributions are vital to us. Based in Santa Cruz and Monterey counties, we're always on the lookout for enthusiastic volunteers to help bring our events and special projects to life. Join us and discover where you fit in our dynamic team!

We are happy to offer volunteer opportunities to individuals who are at least 16 years of age. For those who wish to work directly with youth, the minimum age requirement is 21 years old.
Additionally, we understand the importance of community service and service learning hours for high school and college students. To ensure that we can accommodate these needs, we ask that students submit their volunteer application at least 3 weeks prior to the date on which they need to complete their service hours.

Volunteer Positions
IN -CLASS ASSISTANT
Join UnChained on-site during our Canines Teaching Compassion program. Help ensure that our program runs smooth. Keep water bowls refilled, ensure all teams have a consistent supply of treats without running out, assist with set-up and tear-down of dog training equipment, etc.
Location: On-Site
Time Commitment: 8 weeks/ 2 days a week
DOG FOSTER PARENT
Provide a temporary home, while providing care for a program dog. Promote dogs availability for adoption, while out in the community.
Location: In own home
Time Commitment: Generally 8 - 12 weeks
DOG TRANSPORT
Transport dogs to and from classes. Assist with dog handling and care before, during, and after class.
Location: Monterey, Santa Cruz & Santa Clara County
Time Commitment: Before and after classes, including additional 10-30 minutes of drive time.
THERAPY DOG/ GUEST DOG
Bring your dog to an UnChained class to show and reinforce concepts like positive dog training, use of a clicker, and humane education. Dog must be evaluated and approved by UnChained before attending any classes.
Location: On Location
Time Commitment: approximately 1-1.5 hours per session, 1 - 3 sessions per quarter
LOCAL EVENTS/ OUTREACH
Support UnChained through outreach via special events.
Location: Public Venue
Time Commitment: On-going
MARKETING/ DATA ANALYSIS
Assist with compiling valuable data in order to efficiently educate the community as to what UnChained is and how we contribute to a better society. Work closely with staff to assist with social media marketing efforts and materials.
Location: Remote
Time Commitment: On-going
WEBSITE / DATABASE SUPPORT
Update website, manage database, assist with technical issues. Work with staff for content and direction.
Preffered knowledge: Squarespace/ Adobe suite
Location: Remote
Time Commitment: On-going
PHOTO / VIDEO SUPPORT
Assist in recording/ producing/ editing photos and videos of youth and/or dog participants before, during or after class and at local events.
Location: On location/ Remote
